Oct - Personal Shopper developed a problem and was taken down at 02:34 PDT fixed and returned to service at 10:53 PDT

Oct - At 16:13 PDT ebaY announced the implementation of their Go Local regional trading features. At 16:48 they had to take it down, because a bug in it was preventing all relistings. They hope to try again to get it working. When it does work, it will provide searches in 53 regions, and will replace the field for zip code on the listing form. Each region is eventually scheduled to get its own home page, based on the model of the current Go local LA home page. There is no extra charge for this additional search parameter, and items listed in the Go Local region, will also appear in the all ebaY searches. For information about the Go Local go to- http://pages.ebaY.com/regional/hub.html

Oct - No update on Go-Local bug. They are working on it.

Oct - Is having a regularly scheduled outage between 00:01 PT and 04:00 PT. No update on Go-Local bug. Go Local LA is the only page working.

Oct - The system was experiencing some glitches and some features were only working intermittently or not at all for a couple of hours (1900-2100 PT) but all seems to be running smoothly since.

Oct - Regularly scheduled outage on Friday 15 Oct will be from 00:01 to 05:00 PT. ebaY will extend by 24 hours, all auctions scheduled to end between 04:01 and 06:00PT

On 7 Oct 03 the site was stable.

Oct - Regularly scheduled outage on Friday 15 Oct will be from 00:01 to 05:00 PT. ebaY will extend by 24 hours, all auctions scheduled to end between 04:01 and 06:00PT

Oct - ebaY system will be down for an unregular scheduled outage on Wednesday morning, October 20, between 00:01 and 04:00 PT. ebaY will extend all auctions scheduled to end on Wednesday, October 20, between 00:01 and 05:00 PT by 24 hours.

Oct - system will be down for an unregular scheduled outage on Wednesday morning, October 20, between 00:01 and 06:00 PT. ebaY will extend all auctions scheduled to end on Wednesday, October 20,between 00:01 and 07:00 PT by 24 hours. They are using this down time to fix the excessive category listings update delays, and to add more disk space. During Fridays maintenance they will be running tests of the new hot backup system.

Oct - Is testing the new Hot backup system requiring 6 hours of downtime instead of 4 during their regularly scheduled outage on Friday morning. All auctions scheduled to end on Friday morning, October 22, between 04:01 PT and 07:00 PT will be extended by 24 hours. Auctions scheduled to end on Wed 20 Oct between 0001 and 0700 were extended due to an unregular scheduled maintenance. Unfortunately some of those auctions were accidentally extended 48 hours. These auctions will now end and the same time as originally scheduled, but on Saturday Morning.

Oct - Daily status emails are not being sent out due to a glitch on ebaY. My ebaY has all the latest information on your account. Due to the two six hour outages this week, Search and Category listings pages updates are not current. ebaY has temporarily turned off less time-sensitive functions, to allocate more system resources to Search and Listings updates. The End of Auction email was one of the functions temporarily stopped, but should be back in the next few days.

On 13 Oct 03 at 20:46:13 PT, users reported getting script errors and page cannot be displayed messages across the site. At 21:06:26 PT, users trying to access the regions pages, received error messages. At 21:48:45 PT, sellers trying to file for final value fee refunds kept getting blank pages and page redirects.

Oct - There have been on and off slowdowns on ebaY for the last three evenings. ebaY has a post about this on the announcement board, but are not seeing the slowdowns. The spikes seem to be happening intermittently, so ebaY decided to have more staff on hand tonight during peak use time to see if they could track the problems down.

Oct - ebaY US- feels they have solved peak hour slowdowns and outages by making some adjustments to the site. They were going to shut down for a short period tonight but feel they have isolated and fixed the problem. They continue to monitor for a reoccurrence of problems..
