The Online Auction Users Association (OAUA) continues their efforts and
discussion about the state auctioneers licensing issue. Find out about
your states involvement by going to a thread they are running on
AuctionWatch
http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=103910 There is
also discussion of the issue, its ramifications, and the actions the
OAUA is coordinating on the OAUA boards. Be active and protect your
rights. This is an issue where you REALLY can make a difference, as each
one of you are much better informed than anyone in your state
legislature.
You can become the subject matter expert for your local representative.
This is a state issue, and your voice can really be heard and acted on.

eBay now has a gift list function in conjunction with personal shopper.
Called the Wish List, you can give friends and family members links to
exactly what you want as a gift.

Ebay owns Butterfield and Butterfield, and through that subsidiary
are running the Great Collections Auctions. It appears that the great
collections sellers were shill bidding their own reserve auctions up to
the reserve. This is a violation of eBay rules, and as of 6 Dec, eBay
says it will require B&Bs and Great Collections (GC) to follow the user
agreement which applies to all equally. Insure that you carefully check
shipping and handling costs on GC, as we hear the prices are exorbitant.
It would also be a good idea to keep an eye on the other bidders by
leaving the email address option on when you check who is bidding.
