After the major 2.5 hour unreported outages on 10 Oct, on 11 Oct
at 18:09:13 PT ebaY again had problems with reset errors, inability
to open listing pages, inability to bid, network errors while listing,
cgi5 errors and slow loads. These problems appeared to diminish at
around 19:35PT.   ebaY posted at 18:15:10 PT That they were having
problems with the Sell Your Item feature of the ebaY system. ebaY never
reported the problems as fixed. On 12 Oct at 16:05:10 PT Revise item
went down, and the items in search by category such as the going going
gone category, were all out of order. The ones in a title or title and
description search were sorted by how many days the auctions were
running, so you would have all 5 day auctions, then all 6 day auctions
etc. These problems virtually disabled a buyer's ability to search. At
18:18:49 PT cgi 5 went down. At 19:19:25 ebaY reported for the third
time in three days that they were having problems with the Sell Your
Item feature of the ebaY system. Users reported that in addition to all
the error messages they were again getting feedback forum messages while
trying to list.

If you feel your auctions were negatively impacted by the search
problems, request a refund by going to the form at

PLEASE - IF YOU ARE DENIED REFUNDS LET US KNOW

Subscribers have started to report back to TAG that ebaY is
denying some refunds. They appear to be limiting credits for
those items that ended between 19:07 and 21:15PT on 10 Oct.
TAG strongly recommends that you PERSIST in your requests
for refunds, and that you request listing fees, special feature fees
and final value fees for any auctions you feel were negatively
impacted. Don't take no for an answer and feel free to quote
copy/paste TAGnotes outage time info to back up your request.
ebaY has launched an attack against TAG. They have threatened
to suspend our editor for posting information from TAGnotes on
the ebaY Discuss New Feature board, even though those posts do
not violate any of the board rules, or the normal practices on the
boards. In addition, ebaY went through and pulled the account
information on our editor and on the TAG related User Id on ebaY,
trying to find false information, a suspendable offense. Since all the
information provided is correct, legitimate and accurate, this ploy also
failed. In an unexpected turn of events, ebaYs attack has caused
TAGnotes to experience the largest one day subscription rate in our 13
month publication history.

ebaY made changes to the Bid History and Bidder Search pages.
The bid history page will now display ALL non-retracted bids. The list
will be sorted as it is today (by bid amount, descending). This applies
to single-item transactions only.   All retractions will be displayed
separately in the Bid Retraction and Cancellation History Section along
with individual explanations. This also applies to cancellations by the
seller. The Retracted bid amount and Date of Bid will also be displayed.
This change will apply to single item and Dutch transactions.

The bidder search page now has the Seller ID and the ability to sort by
the Seller ID. If multiple items were bid on or won from the same
seller, these items can be grouped. This should allow bidders to
consolidate payments and facilitate processing and shipping for sellers.

TAG recommends that no matter what third party payment system
you use, if it is not FDIC insured do not leave any more money in
the account than you can afford to lose. We highly recommend that
you associate these third party cyber payment systems, with an FDIC
bank account, totally independent from your analog bank accounts.
Practice safe money management, and prevent loses by having good
firewalls between your online and real world banking systems.
